A Sense of Longing.

And she thought that there was a part of herself lost and in Americanah she thought she found something. It was what she had been searching for the past three years. It was far greater than closure, it was a word that she would never know.

Eventually, she would look back and relish at this moment, the moment that she decided not to let her past dictate her future. There was new life to live and a sense of hope overcame her and for the first time in a while, she felt like herself again. She was back, stronger than ever, wiser than before.

She no longer longed for the days that would not come or moments she would never have. She then smiled because in that moment, she knew she had become who she was meant to be and it quieted the voice in her head.

Inspired by Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Book- a gift from my confidant/well-wisher Denise.
